The 2019 Easter Seals Campaign wrapped up this week with a luncheon at The Rodd Charlottetown. Rotary clubs from Charlottetown, Summerside, and Montague partnered in the campaign to raise $154000. Ty MacLeod, this year's Easter Seals Ambassador was a great inspiration during the campaign.
The Rotary Club of Montague is pleased to announce the launch of a new Eastern PEI Housing Survey Housing issues in Eastern PEI are complex and impact residents in different ways. We want to hear from all residents in order to gain a deeper understanding of housing issues in the region. Please complete the online survey or pick up a paper copy at all Gold Mine locations (pre-paid return envelope included). The insight you provide will identify the housing priorities of Eastern PEI so that the Rotary Club of Montague can take action.

Please share with your networks so we can hear from as many people as possible!
STRIVE Scholarship Program:
Students Taking Renewed Interest in the Value of Education
Welcome to the STRIVE Scholarship Program
Strive is a scholarship program that recognizes and rewards students who show significant improvement in overall performance in their senior year of high school. STRIVE challenges students to improve their school performance, gain self confidence, and develop post-secondary goals.
Students who participate in STRIVE in their senior year are offered an opportunity to "strive" for an entry scholarship to college, university, or a minimum twenty week approved post-secondary training program.
Who are the STRIVE Partners?
The STRIVE Program is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Montague. Thousands of dollars have been awarded to deserving students traditionally missed by post-secondary financial support programs. The Rotary Club works with the staff of MRHS and local business leaders to help promote positive attributes in these students; attributes that will give them the tools to become future leaders in our communities.
What are the benefits of STRIVE
The STRIVE Scholarship Program designates up to two (2) scholarships per year valued at $1,500 each! These scholarships go toward tuition at UPEI, Holland College, any other similar institution off P.E.I., or for any 20 week or longer approved training course.
In the past, this program has proven to be a significant benefit to all participants, not just those selected as recipients. The support of the Rotarians who set up the program and of the committee members as friends/mentors is a powerful indicator to the students that the community is genuinely interested in them.
Who is eligible for STRIVE?
Grade 12 students who:
-Meet the requirements for spring graduation
-attend classes regularly
-work and study to the best of their ability
-"strive" toward a positive attitude
What do students have to do?
STRIVE involves a commitment between the student, MRHS, and the Rotary Club of Montague.
-Academic and counselling support is provided by the school
-A $1500 scholarship is provided by the Rotary Club of Montague
-A commitment to attend regular meetings at lunch hour during the school year as well as a growth in work habits and study practices is required by the student
Who determines these scholarships and when?
School counsellors will monitor the progress of the applicants throughout the year. In June, the information is reviewed and the Students Services Department will determine up to two (2) successful candidates. These candidates will be presented with the STRIVE Scholarship at the graduation ceremonies by a member of the Rotary Club of Montague.
